Importing from Swarm
To import your data from Swarm,
1. Request your data from Foursquare/Swarm. You can find instructions on Foursquare's support website here: https://foursquare.com/legal/privacy-center/#accordion_choices_request_data
2. In WritePath, go to Settings > Import and Export > Import Swarm Data.
3. Select the checkins.json file(s) from your Foursquare export.
4. WritePath shows how many check-ins it found and how many it has already imported. Choose whether to import as suggestions — leave this off to add them directly as entries, or turn it on to review each one first. Tap Import.
Large imports take a while: WritePath adds about one check-in per second to stay within Apple's mapping limits, so 1,000 check-ins takes roughly 20 minutes. You can keep using WritePath, or switch to another app — the import continues in the background and sends a notification when it finishes. A progress bar and a Stop Import button appear in Settings while it's running.
Repeat steps 2–4 with the same file. WritePath skips check-ins it has already imported, so nothing is duplicated.
WritePath uses Apple Maps rather than Foursquare's venue database, so place names may not match Swarm exactly. For each check-in, WritePath imports the date and time, the coordinates, and the venue name as the entry title. It then tries to match the coordinates to a place using Writepath's own place lookup system. Some cleanup may be needed.
