Privacy at a Glance

WritePath was designed with one guiding principle:

Your journal belongs to you.

Here’s what that means in practice:

  • We collect as little information as possible.
  • We never sell your information.
  • We never use advertising trackers.
  • Your journal stays on your device, and automatically syncs to your own private iCloud account if you're signed into iCloud on that device. If you're not signed into iCloud, your journal remains local to your device only.
  • You remain in control of your data through export, deletion, and permission settings.
  • You don’t need to create an account to use the app.
  • When we must involve a third-party service, we choose vendors that will respect your privacy the same way we do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell my data?

No.

Do you use advertising trackers?

No.

Do you store my data on your own server?

No — we don't run our own servers. When iCloud sync occurs, your data lives in your own private iCloud account on Apple's infrastructure — WritePath and Anthurium Creative never have access to it.

Can you read my journal?

Nope.

Where is my journal stored?

On your device and, if you choose, in your private iCloud account.

Can I export everything?

Yes.

Can I delete everything?

Yep, anytime.

What is Anthurium Creative?

Anthurium Creative LLC is an LLC based out of Seattle, Washington. WritePath is our first app.

If you’d like the details, keep reading.

What Information WritePath Stores

WritePath stores the data you choose to create, including:

  • Journal entries
  • Entry titles
  • Dates, times, and time zones
  • Places associated with entries
  • Visit history
  • Photos you attach
  • App preferences and settings
  • Data you import from another app.

This information is stored on your device.

If you enable iCloud sync, it is also stored in your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit service.

Anthurium Creative does not operate a server that stores your journal.

Anonymous Analytics

WritePath collects anonymous usage analytics to help us understand how the app is used, diagnose problems, and improve future versions.

These analytics may include information such as:

  • app launches
  • feature usage
  • settings changes
  • crashes
  • general performance information

They do not include:

  • journal entries
  • journal titles
  • photos
  • location history
  • calendar events
  • names
  • email addresses
  • advertising identifiers

Analytics are anonymous and are never used to build advertising profiles or track you across apps or websites.

Subscription Information

If you purchase WritePath Premium, Apple processes your payment through the App Store.

WritePath receives only the information needed to determine whether your subscription is active. We never receive your payment card information.

Why We Process Information

Depending on which features you choose to use, we process information in order to:

  • save and sync your journal
  • create location-based journal suggestions
  • import calendar events into journal suggestions
  • attach photos to entries
  • send optional reminders and notifications
  • verify premium subscriptions
  • improve the app through anonymous analytics

We do not process your information for advertising, profiling, or selling data.

Permissions We Request

Every permission requested by WritePath is optional.

You can deny any permission, and the rest of the app will continue to function.

Location

Location access allows WritePath to:

  • show your current place
  • build visit history
  • generate optional location-based journal suggestions

Location processing happens on your device. You can disable location features at any time.

Calendar

Calendar access allows WritePath to create suggested journal entries from calendars you choose.

WritePath reads only the information necessary for this feature.

Photos

Photo access lets you:

  • attach photos to journal entries
  • automatically suggest photos that match journal moments

Notifications

Notifications power optional messages, including:

  • first visits to new places
  • returning somewhere after a long absence
  • visit milestones
  • daily summaries

Notifications can be turned off at any time.

Where Your Data Lives

Your journal is stored:

  • on your Apple device
  • in your private iCloud account if you're signed into iCloud

WritePath uses Apple’s CloudKit private database for syncing.

Because Anthurium Creative does not operate its own journal server:

  • we cannot read your journal
  • we cannot browse your photos
  • we cannot view your location history
  • we cannot recover deleted journal entries

Your iCloud data is encrypted by Apple while stored and in transit. If you enable Apple’s Advanced Data Protection, Apple provides additional end-to-end encryption protections for your iCloud data.

Sharing Information

  • We do not sell your information.
  • We do not rent your information.
  • We do not share your journal with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We work with a small number of carefully selected service providers to operate WritePath. These providers perform functions such as cloud synchronization, subscription management, anonymous analytics, and other services necessary to operate the app.
  • Our current providers include Apple (iCloud and App Store services), RevenueCat (subscription management), and TelemetryDeck (privacy-friendly analytics).
  • These providers receive only the minimum information necessary to perform their services. They never receive your journal entries, attached photos, or location history unless that information is required for the service you have chosen to use (for example, storing your journal in your own private iCloud account).
  • As WritePath evolves, we may add or replace service providers. Regardless of who those providers are, our privacy commitments described in this policy will remain the same.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we process.

Much of your journal’s security comes from WritePath’s architecture: your journal stays on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account rather than on developer-controlled servers.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to minimize the information we collect and to protect the information we do process.

Your Choices

You remain in control of your information.

At any time you can:

  • export your entire journal
  • import previously exported data
  • delete all journal data from within the app
  • disable any automatic feature
  • revoke app permissions through iOS Settings

• disable analytics if that option is offered in the future

How Long Information Is Kept

Your journal remains on your device and in your private iCloud account until you delete it.

Anonymous analytics are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to improve and maintain WritePath.

Subscription information is retained only as necessary to manage purchases and comply with legal obligations.

International Users

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you additional rights regarding your personal information.

Because WritePath stores your journal on your own devices and private iCloud account rather than on our servers, many requests that normally require a company to retrieve or delete user data can instead be handled directly by you using the app’s export and deletion features.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • accessing information about you
  • correcting inaccurate information
  • requesting deletion of information we hold
  • exporting your data
  • withdrawing consent for optional permissions
  • objecting to certain processing where applicable
  • filing a complaint with your local privacy regulator

Most journal data is already under your direct control because it resides on your own device and private iCloud account.

California Residents

WritePath does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable California privacy laws.

Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process information only when we have a lawful basis to do so.

Depending on the feature, this may include:

  • providing the services you requested
  • complying with legal obligations
  • our legitimate interest in improving and maintaining the app through anonymous analytics
  • your consent, where required

Children’s Privacy

WritePath is designed for a general audience and is not intended for children under 13.

Third-Party Websites

WritePath may occasionally link to websites or services that are not operated by Anthurium Creative. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as WritePath evolves or legal requirements change. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, when appropriate, notify users within the app.
