WritePath was designed with one guiding principle:
Your journal belongs to you.
Here’s what that means in practice:
Do you sell my data?
No.
Do you use advertising trackers?
No.
Do you store my data on your own server?
No — we don't run our own servers. When iCloud sync occurs, your data lives in your own private iCloud account on Apple's infrastructure — WritePath and Anthurium Creative never have access to it.
Can you read my journal?
Nope.
Where is my journal stored?
On your device and, if you choose, in your private iCloud account.
Can I export everything?
Yes.
Can I delete everything?
Yep, anytime.
What is Anthurium Creative?
Anthurium Creative LLC is an LLC based out of Seattle, Washington. WritePath is our first app.
If you’d like the details, keep reading.
WritePath stores the data you choose to create, including:
This information is stored on your device.
If you enable iCloud sync, it is also stored in your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit service.
Anthurium Creative does not operate a server that stores your journal.
WritePath collects anonymous usage analytics to help us understand how the app is used, diagnose problems, and improve future versions.
These analytics may include information such as:
They do not include:
Analytics are anonymous and are never used to build advertising profiles or track you across apps or websites.
If you purchase WritePath Premium, Apple processes your payment through the App Store.
WritePath receives only the information needed to determine whether your subscription is active. We never receive your payment card information.
Depending on which features you choose to use, we process information in order to:
We do not process your information for advertising, profiling, or selling data.
Every permission requested by WritePath is optional.
You can deny any permission, and the rest of the app will continue to function.
Location
Location access allows WritePath to:
Location processing happens on your device. You can disable location features at any time.
Calendar
Calendar access allows WritePath to create suggested journal entries from calendars you choose.
WritePath reads only the information necessary for this feature.
Photos
Photo access lets you:
Notifications
Notifications power optional messages, including:
Notifications can be turned off at any time.
Your journal is stored:
WritePath uses Apple’s CloudKit private database for syncing.
Because Anthurium Creative does not operate its own journal server:
Your iCloud data is encrypted by Apple while stored and in transit. If you enable Apple’s Advanced Data Protection, Apple provides additional end-to-end encryption protections for your iCloud data.
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we process.
Much of your journal’s security comes from WritePath’s architecture: your journal stays on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account rather than on developer-controlled servers.
No system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to minimize the information we collect and to protect the information we do process.
You remain in control of your information.
At any time you can:
• disable analytics if that option is offered in the future
Your journal remains on your device and in your private iCloud account until you delete it.
Anonymous analytics are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to improve and maintain WritePath.
Subscription information is retained only as necessary to manage purchases and comply with legal obligations.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you additional rights regarding your personal information.
Because WritePath stores your journal on your own devices and private iCloud account rather than on our servers, many requests that normally require a company to retrieve or delete user data can instead be handled directly by you using the app’s export and deletion features.
Depending on your location, you may have rights including:
Most journal data is already under your direct control because it resides on your own device and private iCloud account.
WritePath does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable California privacy laws.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process information only when we have a lawful basis to do so.
Depending on the feature, this may include:
WritePath is designed for a general audience and is not intended for children under 13.
WritePath may occasionally link to websites or services that are not operated by Anthurium Creative. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as WritePath evolves or legal requirements change. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, when appropriate, notify users within the app.
